Member Appreciation Day!

It’s the biggest day of the AFL calendar, but for Glenorchy Health and Fitness it was also a celebration of a different kind.

Our Member Appreciation Day marked one year at our new building in Chapel St, while also recognising and giving back to our members and the local community.

The morning may have started off with wet weather, but that sure didn’t dampen visitor’s spirits. Big crowds flocked through the doors at 8am right up to closing time at 2pm, with the young and young at heart spoilt for choice.

The day kicking off with a brand new class Metafit – a high-intensity 30-minute workout that lasts 24 hours. The bodyweight workout proved a major hit amongst members and visitors with four classes throughout the day all packed out.

“It was really great, it was a quick workout and it got the heart racing, so it was really good. I could just come in and do one of these classes a week and I’d be feeling great,” Glenorchy Health and Fitness Member,  Alice Woodhams said.

For those wanting a post-workout hit or just wanting to warm up, free coffee, tea or hot chocolate was available from Meadow Charm’s coffee van. And those a bit hungry come lunch-time were treated to an Aussie grand final favourite, a snag in bread or a hamburger. The freebies didn’t stop there though, with give-aways at the door to brighten the day.

Meanwhile in the Kids Club, for the little ones the favourite activity of the day was obvious – getting their face painted. Many either sporting Richmond or Adelaide colours, gearing up for the day ahead.

For others the best part of the day wasn’t such an easy choice, but for some there was a clear winner, “I was able to bring extra friends to try out the centre and they were able to try out the classes with me, as well as the free coffee van,” Alice Woodhams said.

“I think the biggest thing here is you feel like your apart of a family. Everybody knows everybody, everyone gets along with everyone. You have your fights within the gym, you have your friendships, you have your family. At the end of the day it’s the wonderful family feel you get when you walk through those doors, and I don’t think I would ever want to be a member anywhere else”, Glenorchy Health and Fitness Instructor, Allira Morrison said.

“There’s a community feel. Everyone is willing to talk to you. There’s no judgment,” Fitness Coach, Sharlai Watson said.
