For many Australians July 28 represented the date of the five “Super Saturday” by-elections but here at Glenorchy Health and Fitness the day was SUPER for another reason entirely.
Our Superhero themed Open Day planned to give back to our members and the Glenorchy community, while also raising crucial funds for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Big crowds flocked through the doors at 8am right up to closing time at 3pm, with plenty of activities for the kids as well as for the kids at heart.
The morning kicked off with a free Bootcamp session with a twist.
For those wanting to start their weekend active we had plenty of options with extra classes going all day available for both members and non-members, including Metafit, Zumba, Balance, Punch and more.
Meanwhile, our energetic competitors were keen to find out who would claim victory in our Burpee-A-Thon.
The competition involved fundraising for Make-A-Wish, entering either as an individual or as a team completing as many burpees as possible in 15 minutes.
Although it was a close call Eden Hills was crowned the winner, completing more than 200 burpees!
He didn’t quite smash the world record of 851 set by a Hobart man last month but to be fair Eden had 15 minutes compared to 60.
For those a bit hungry post-workout we served up an Aussie favourite, a snag in bread. The freebies didn’t stop there though, with giveaways and prizes up for grabs throughout the day. We hope you had a SUPER time!
Thankyou to all the lovely Make-A-Wish volunteers for helping out on the day and for all our guests for your kind donations.
We have raised a total of $735.50 which has gone directly to Make-A-Wish to help them transform the lives of children with a life-threatening medical condition by making their dream come true.
